Ufimtseff out, Chris Day steps up plans on making it 6-0

Already in training camp preparing for a 145 bout on May 15th, the last thing Day expected was a call from Battlefield president, Jay Golshani, asking him to step up and fight on the co-mainevent to replace injured Ufimtseff on the same card.

Day has been making a name for himself on the West Coast with a very impressive 5-0 MMA record.   Day who is coming off a first round victory at the king of the cage event last month has had all his fights contested at the 145 pound division.  Day will be moving up in weight this fight to take on Sasaki at a catch weight of 152 pounds.

Both Sasaki and Day are aggressive on their feet and like to stand up and trade punches.    Sasaki will definitely have the size and power advantage in this fight.  Day will have to use his quickness and technique to stay out of Sasaki’s range.   If Sasaki decides to take this fight to the mat, it will be very interesting to see if Day can find a solution against a much stronger and tougher opponent than his usual competition.

Sasaki and Day are both coming off  first minute stoppages of their opponents, and this one should be a dynamic matchup of two fast paced fighters who don’t hold anything back.     Suitela’s Jonathan Agnew will most likely face the winner of this fight in Battlefield’s next event on August 21st at the river rock casino.
