New Policy regarding matchmaking in BFL for both amateur and pro fights

bfl
BFL staff released the following earlier today:
“We are in a new era off MMA in this province. BFL is one of the most successful MMA promotions in the country because of our loyalty to fight camps and our fans.
It is essential for us to simplify things for our fans, fighters and fight camps from this day forward.

First step towards this simplification goal will be our new matchmaking policy. B.C. Athletic commission (an organization that BFL works with on a day to day basis and respects a great deal) has to approve all the fights on the BFL card. When matchups are agreed upon by the two fight camps on both sides of the fight, then it is forwarded to the athletic commission by BFL for approval.

A recent issue has been matchups getting turned down by the commission which have already been agreed upon between fight camps with coaches with years of experience on both sides of the matchup. This has started a very painful process for BFL putting us in a position of having to get in between the fight camps and the governing body trying to relay the information why BFL won’t let the fight happen (which is not true it is a commission’s decision).

We have been in this business long enough to understand that experienced and well respected coaches would never put their fighters in matchups that their fighter does not have a chance of coming out on top.

To make life easier for everyone and be more transparent this is what we are going to do from this day on with all the matchups needing additional information for processing by the commission:
1) We will post the matchup proposal with both fighter names and records on our website
2) We will post the fight camps of both teams involved
3) We will post all the relevant information regarding this matchup
4) we will post BFL’s position on the matchup proposal and why we proposed it for approval
5) We will post the commission’s reasoning for not approving the fight (if one is provided to us)

Now all of the fans and fight camps can simply visit our website and come to their own conclusion if the commission’s decision was a logical one.
We believe this process will save our company a lot of time and will save our relationship with all fight camps involved.
